Belly Henna
Henna applied during pregnancy is an ancient ritual and is believed to help bring about an easy birth and healthy child. Henna a small bush that produces a red dye has been used cosmetically and medicinally for centuries. Mehndi, the ancient form of applying henna to the body, is traditionally used to celebrate the major rites of passage in a woman’s life, including pregnancy. Mehndi can celebrate the unique shape of a full belly with expansive patterns. In certain cultures it is used to protect or bless the mother and child during labor.
Designs usually last seven to ten days, depending on body chemistry, how long the paste was allowed to soak in, and location on the body. It is very important to keep in mind that natural henna stains a reddish brown color and needs to soak on the skin four to eight hours. The color will be a light orange at first and darken to a richer shade over two days.
Painted Belly
Let your belly be a canvas of your imagination, capturing the special bond with the baby inside. Perhaps the image will reflect a season, a passion, or insights of who this little one may become. Paints are FDA approved, hypo-allergenic, water-based, and non-toxic, including glitter paints and gems. Paints can easily be washed off with soap and water. The smoothness of the warm water brushes and paint are soothing and relaxing as they are applied on the mother.
Belly Cast
The months of pregnancy are a very special time for a woman, but fleeting, and that time can go by quicker than you think. Belly casting creates a permanent sculpture and saves the dramatic dimension of depth of a mother’s pregnant shape. There are vast resources of experience and creativity utilized to ensure the success of every belly cast. Medical grade plaster-impregnated gauze strips are used to fully cover the front side of the woman’s torso; breasts and hands can also be included. Once the belly cast is completely dry, it can than be decorated. Carly will listen to you and prepare unique concepts that are crafted specifically for your belly cast piece of art.
Belly Bowls
Similar process to the belly cast, these one of a kind bowls are molded from your pregnant belly to capture the fullness of your body in bloom. Worthy of display in your home, you may choose to create from a variety of shapes, such as, hatched egg shell, or the popular classic designer bowl. Belly Bowls make a memorable activity during a Mother Blessing, Baby Shower, Labor Project, or may be done privately with your partner.

A gift certificate for a pregnant belly art is an unique baby shower gift and a great way to celebrate a pregnancy!
Belly art is a wonderful way to celebrate, honor, and create a piece of art work reflecting the amazing journey a mother’s body has transformed during her pregnancy. While having belly art applied the mother may fall into an almost meditative state, as she can be comfortably positioned with pillows, be still and relaxed, focus on her belly, on her pregnancy, her new life, and express the work of art that she is.
